Danielle Vanier’s larger-than-life attitude and chic sense of style have made her one of the most in-demand influencers in the UK. Having worked as a print designer for major brands in both London and Sweden, Danielle has gained the technical training to match her unique eye for fashion.
About the collection
Her inspiration for this collection came from her time in Sweden, and how she saw her own style morph into an oversized, androgynous, print-free Scandi-cool aesthetic. Designed with clean lines and imagined in minimal, timeless silhouettes: these are the pieces you’ll reach for season after season.
I wanted to design items that could hold their own, but also be paired with lots of other styles from my collection, as well as be mixed and matched with existing items in your current wardrobe. Each had to have a unique design detail, whether it was a basic top or any of the statement pieces. For example: the basic tops can be worn back to front for different necklines, and the trench follows a classic cut at the top but it's...cropped, giving it a chic update.
Style up or down
Being able to style my items in a number of different ways was really important to me. I needed the pieces to work hard for people: you can dress them up for work/a night out or keep them casual for day to day living. For example: the high neck scuba dress looks just as good with your favourite trainers, as it does with court heels at the office.
A timeless colour palette
It was very important that I designed items that wouldn’t date or go out of fashion - styles that could be worn time and time again, through the seasons. I feel that colour and print are the two biggest factors that contribute in dating a collection. This is why my collection is totally print-free and comes in a classic, but powerful colour palette.
I want my clothes to be worn by people, no matter their age. It was important to me that I made a collection that teens could wear as well as older people. The entire collection has mum gorgeous Mummy’s seal of approval and for me, this means the world!
What have been some of your career highlights?
Being able to turn a hobby into a fully fledged career. When I get to design, I’m in my element. When I get to style plus size women, I’m in my element. The launch of this collection has definitely been my biggest achievement I’d say.
If I could be a piece of clothing, I would be...
A chunky white trainer, for sure.
How would you describe your style?
I’m into anything minimal, chic or scandi inspired. This might sound arrogant, but I’d say my ability to accessorise an outfit is kinda unmatched.
If there was one thing you could change about the fashion industry, what would it be?
The lack of representation in the media in terms of size, the ethnicity and the ability of models.
What is your favourite piece from your collection and why?
Oooh I’m sorry but it’s going to have to be a three way tie between the cropped trench, the hoodie dress & the scuba high neck dress... they’re all my faves!
What are your favourite brands?
I love the navabi Collection, COS and M&S.
What trend can you not stop wearing this season?
Neon, anything with toggles on it & chunky “Dad” trainers.
